It is only in recent years that true "educational opportunities" have become available for those interested in learning about RVs, RVing, and the RV lifestyle. Elsewhere at this site we provide a list of available books and publications. Here we focus on seminars, courses, and "schools" which are dedicated to teaching various technical and lifestyle topics to RVers. Courses are frequently offered at RV rallies sponsored by membership organizations such as FMCA, Good Sam, and Escapees. They are also frequently offered in conjunction with meetings of various RV manufacturers' club events. Perhaps the most comprehensive, professional, and useful of these options are the more "independent" offerings of organizations such as the "Life on Wheels" conferences. These are typically offered in a true educational setting, with the major annual week-long event being hosted on the campus of the University of Idaho -- a conference which we strongly recommend for those committed to becoming serious RVers.
What follows below is a compendium of our "class notes" from various courses we attended -- (except where otherwise noted) at "Life on Wheels" conferences, between 1966 and 2000. These "notes" are not intended as, and indeed could never be, a sustitute for personal attendance at these conferences. However, we've attempted to capture some of the key points from each class or topic, so as to add at least incrementally to the body of knowledge available online to our readers. The "opinions" reflected in the notes which follow are those of the speakers, and do not necessarily reflect the views or experience of us as RVers.
