RVers Bulletin Board

Mexico: Tourist Cards Update: David Eidel outlines the various current requirements you'll want to know when planning an RV trip into Mexico.

Alpine Coach: We've posted what was to be our final article in this series, but the ending is not one we had anticipated. Western RV has "temporarily" suspended operations. This is not the first, nor is it likely to be the last of such stories. But there is a story behind the story here, and this may turn out not to be the final chapter...

Fuel Prices -- What's Behind this Story: We've posted what we consider an informative piece on what's driving higher fuel costs. We found this to be objective and informative. Clearly there's much debate over this issue, but the views expressed here surely deserve consideration.

Lazy Daze Product Review (Part 4): In one of the most useful and comprehensive reviews you'll find anywhere, Joan Taylor completes the series describing her experience with her Lazy Daze Class C Motorhome. Anyone interested in this brand would be remiss in not giving careful consideration to this thoughtful series of objective reports.

The Real ID Act: There could be a sleeper out there. Full Time RVers need to watch the progress of this Department of Homeland Security program with care. Under new proposed regulations states are to issue new drivers' licences under plans that conform to DHS requirements for ensuring proof of identity. One of the provisions states that documentation must establish “(4) The applicant’s address of principal residence;…”. States are to come up with their own plans for implementation, and it is uncertain how they will interpret this requirement. Hopefully, it will not be interpreted as a "physical residence", but rather a PMB would suffice. The Good Sam Club has issued a written comment in support of the special requirements of full time RVers. There is much controversy over the Act, much of it dealing with issues relating to privacy and the cost to the states of implementing it. States can "opt out" of the program, but the consequences of doing so could be extremely troublesome. RVers should be watching for further developments.
